When will my credit report get updated once a debt is resolved? Follow
After the full settlement amount is paid and processed by a creditor, they may report to credit reporting bureaus that your account is settled in full, settled, paid, paid by settlement, or settled for less than the full amount. You no longer owe on this account and the balance is zero. This can take anywhere from 30-60 days to show up on your credit report.
Keep in mind that a debt is not resolved at the time you authorize the settlement. If the agreement with the creditor involves a structured settlement where payments are made over time in installments, then the debt is in process until all payments have been made and cleared by the creditor.
If you're concerned that your credit report doesn't accurately reflect the status of an enrolled account, check with us to make sure your debt is fully resolved before you dispute the debt on your credit report. If you have a structured settlement in place and dispute how it's shown on your credit report, this could impact your ongoing settlement. Situations can be unique, so contact Customer Service to discuss before taking any action to report an error.
